BACK...

This year MoBar Net will celebrate its 20th anniversary.  The partnership between The Missouri Bar and REJIS to provide much needed information to attorneys started with Armstrong Teasdale as its first subscriber in January of 1992.  Today our partnership boasts an impressive list of law firms of all sizes from across the state, with the total number of firms exceeding 1,050.  This impressive assembly of law firms, with over 3,800 attorneys and paralegals using it, is a clear indication that this service is a valuable offering to the membership of The Missouri Bar.

In December, 2010 The Missouri Bar surveyed all MoBar Net subscribers asking for their opinion about the service.  In addition, in early 2011 two Focus Groups were assembled, one in St. Louis and one in Kansas City, to review the results of the survey and offer their own suggestions and recommendations for service improvements.  The survey and focus groups identified several key areas that subscribers of the MoBar Net service wanted to see added/changed.  Some of their recommendations were:

Additional municipal courts on MoBar Net

   Allow on-line payment of invoices

   Immediate criminal history responses

More training in Kansas City - webinars

   DOR photos

   Driver history from other states

   Better help information

   Newer look

Bring back St. Louis County Municipal Court access

   Warrant information from other areas

   Mobile device access

Most of 2011 was dedicated to two major projects. The first was adding the St. Louis County Municipal Court back on MoBar Net; and second, in September, 2011 the Kansas City Municipal Court case information and Kansas City area warrants and arrests were added to MoBar Net.  Based on the survey and focus group recommendations, several key enhancements were identified that could be undertaken in fall 2011 for implementation in early 2012.  The service enhancements focused on the appearance of MoBar Net along with adding several new features.

  1. The Client Billing Report has been modified to include the log on/transaction date(s) by attorney for each client.
  2. All screens were reformatted for appearance, sizing, larger fonts and color.  Depending on your operating sytem, you may have to adjust your screen resolution for optimal viewing.
  3. The current client number displays on all screens.
  4. Help buttons were added to each screen with directions and more information about the data being provided.
  5. The  iPad has been certified as a device to access MoBar Net.  Download the Citrix Receiver client (free) from your Apps Store. While you may be able to print from your iPad, Citrix currently does not support printing  from this device; and, therefore, REJIS cannot provide support for printing issues.  Citrix has indicated they will include iPad printing support in a future release of the Citrix Receiver Client.  However, you can take a screenshot on your iPad by pressing Home and then the Sleep/Wake button. The screen will flash and you'll hear a click, indicating that a photo has been taken. Your screen shots are saved automatically in your Photos gallery. From here, you can view or email them. You cannnot save data to a file.  Other tablet devices are currently not certified and supported by REJIS.
  6. Training sessions will be set up for Kansas City subscribers in spring and fall of 2012.
  7. Phase 2 of this project will include a new criminal history screen which will allow you to request driver history and statewide criminal history from other states.  It will also include a link to the ORI file from the full warrant display. Look for these enhancements in early April.

Mobar Net continues to be a work in proress.  One of the most exciting projects we are undertaking beginning in the first quarter of 2012 is to look at adding electronic court filings to the REJIS court systems.  Other recommendations are being reviewed such as on-line bill payment and training webinars.  You can send suggestions for MoBar Net enhancements to Linda Oligschlaeger (/mailtlindao@mobar.org) or Sue Baker (/mailtsbaker@rejis.org).

The Missouri Bar and REJIS thank you for your support for the past 20 years, and we look forward to working with you for many more years!
